The class commenced with understanding the final tool of illustrator offset. We appear to offset by object-path-offset-path.This tool had mainly three types miter, round,bevel.This help us explore boundaries which actually means extending the shape. This not only helped in shape context but also text which could be enriched. We also learnt about the shape builder tool. Then we had to present our final posters which have Gestalt’s principles:
The first art board which says go green is the principle of closure and similarity. It is been done through pen and arc tool to create the pot and shape tool for hexagon. Then a huge leaf is made using pen tool and curvature tool. Clipping mask is used to only show the shape and pattern and hide the background giving it the closure concept. This is inspired from the increased Global warming and going green and environment is the only solution.
The next art-board Fashion is very much inspired from my career and passion. It is a concept of proximity. Firstly, I traced the hanger using pen tool. Next remove fill from the body in order to use the symbols. These are wide range of symbols in the fashion section under the symbol library.Soon after resizing and adjusting I removed the border of hanger. Beneath fashion is written through text tool and adding 3-D effects to the font. Lastly, send backward tool was used. This poster was most time consuming and intresting teaching me patience and hardwork never fails.
The last art-board Lifeline is the theory of continuity. The use of fill in background symbolizing the light and brightness of life. This poster is inspired from Ratan Tata which says until and unless there are ups and downs in life , a straight line is a sign of death. Hence, I could relate continuity directly with lifeline which goes on independent of circumstances or situations of life. Through pen tool the lines are created.
The art board 4 Dream catcher is the theory of figure and ground relationship. The background uses the gradient tool with 4 colors.Use of shapes and arc tool to get the dream catcher. The stars are created through pattern brush . When first the pattern as shown on the second art -board was created through shapes then a new brush was designers. Text box is used to write the text. The artwork is no inspiration but a believe that i as a person rely upon. Having goals and dreams are as important as oxygen .
The last art board on the right Orange Is The New Black is the principle of similarity. This is inspired from the famous American series on jailers wearing orange as their new fashion statement. But the poster i made is the key of life i hold on to.Which id being different from the crowd , thinking out of the box and being yourself. I used the symbol on the page. The orange outline is the tracing of an outfit through the pen tool as shown on the second art board.
Though these posters on the principles of gestalt were my third attempt .Technical knowledge has always been difficult for me to grasp. But slowly practice will help me achieve the desired goals. The class ended on a philosophical note where a general insight into reality was highlighted. The only key to design is consistency, passion,practice in the professional industry. These truths that my parents have been embedding in me since i chose the career path. This was a learning and a better understanding to be better in each and every step in this long journey of design. Because,'”A coal is put under extreme condition in order to be a shining diamond .“
