This class commenced with reviewing our 10 file card abstract models. It was the models that defined who we are .Matching the 2-D and giving it shape and 3 Dimension was very interesting.
This illustration’s visuals are actually inspired by the plant Mimosa pudica . The very known plant which closes itself with a touch. The petals are soft of the flower but give a pokey and spiny feel . Hence the top of illustration has similar idea of something pointy and spooky as a barrier. The leaves underneath in contrast are soothing to eyes and comfortable. Therefore there are good parts which are being hidden underneath of a self guard weapon of not letting people to know you easily as they might use your. This was basically showcasing the emotion of an introvert. Through thin strips of file card each strip is stick in a clingy scary manner .
This artwork signifies the Japanese technique where they repaired broken bowls with gold so that people remember it as a history. This signifies the importance of broken parts of life which make you unique .Double layer of file card is used here. Cracked lines have been used like a broken ceramic . Lastly, with the help of cutter illuminating light texture is given to give it the realistic style.
This illustration is based on the Hindu mythology story of Mahabharat. Arjuna who is an archer is considered as the focused to goal ignoring all distractions. The illustration has two walls on the side with disturbing crafts. In the center is the goal with an arrow on it ignoring all obstacles. The partisan of the whole structure was complicated . Balancing each strip of paper was also challenging. It is a complete artwork of various texture converted to shapes giving the essence. The emotion of being focused is being portrayed.
This artwork is scattered and a bit messy . Autumn leaf which signifies the change of weather . It is the essence of sadness and being moody.This also is a double layer where is upper layer of file card was first folded and then given three different textures in each part.First layer has small holes done with a rounder. Second layer has cutter lines and last layer has big holes with a punching machine.In each layer a crooked leaf has been cut to give a negative dull effect.
The metaphor means being yourself and being unique and different from the crowd.This artwork started with cutting equal squares and sticking them as incomplete box cubes.It was difficult to balance them in a row. Next equal strips of file card were cut and then from the biggest to smallest layers were cut giving an illusion of stiletto the heel part of the shoe same strips were cut with equal layering.To stand this stiletto tall stapler was used.
This assignment helped us work on the modeling part which helped us understand the balancing part with the minute work of cutting each strip.The next step of this class of placing them together which takes us to another step.
