Todayis class started with presenting our assignment . This is where we had to abstract and draw the cities from the book Invisible cities . I chose random cities from the book to make it more intresting.
This is the city of Leonia which spoke about mainly mornings the freshness angel garbagecollectors many objects like wine, cans etc.The topics that were highlighting to me were catcalysm destroying the rich people , tattered room and angel garbage pickers . Therefore we had to do three iterations and hence on top was my first attempemt and through reviews i redid it into a better output . By implementing more symbolism.
This is the city of Thekla which spike about many intricate structures and concepts with reference to the roman history . It was more like a construction site from planks to scaffoldings , wooden catwalks etc . The most highlighted concept for me was scafoldings, crack a fence and blue prints in the sky .First iteration where i connected different objects . Next was blueprints which i potrayed in a cinstellation form . Next was a crack in fence and which showed fire as hope which was spoken in the chapter.
This is the city of Sephoria which started as two cities and half of each . It seemed more like a theme park city speaking about tornados , rollercoasters, caravan . Therefore , the first image showing two cities of a half and having the different workspace from banks to factories . Next is a carousal the one we see in theme parks with horses . It is shown as a tornado as it is moving fast . The crouching of people on it have been symbolised . Next is the life which is shown through a rollercoaster in a symbolic way where at the end is shown the ups and downs of life.
This is the city of Moriana .This iteration is more about pedicement, dancers ,soot . Where in the array of pedicement (triangle) the symbolic dancers have been shown . Next was the black soot which is shown in a scarstic way of powerful dance burning away the stage. Next is the obverse and medusa. The last iteration speaks about a rotten beam and fading signs . The form of stippling is used to show the fading effect.
This is again a two attempt of the city Eupasia . It speaks about joy of life after death,graveyard , skeleton mainly the darker parts of the society. The first illustration speaks about the life being messy and death being free from problems . The second iteration speaks about the stopped clock the violnist, coutness, businessmen etc. The last iteration speaks about the laden table and the skeletons.
This assignment gave lot of learnings and evaluating a single way of evovling a city . The form of abstraction which is a path with lots of exploration and creativity.
